LETTER TO A FRIEND : A PRODUCER IN MELBOURNE!!!  Just need to tell you - you simply MUST go and see Emma Dean on tour there soon.  I stake my "music critique endeavors"  on what I saw on Saturday night. There were 10 of us who went (20s to 50s) and each person (different in many ways) was totally absorbed and loved every minute of it. 

Brilliant - an absolute class act that should be traveling internationally right now.  Musicianship - brilliant;  Performance - brilliant; Arrangement;- brilliant;  Herself and artists - brilliant!  Songwriting; excellent.  Tone/note/rhythm - groove;  never misses.  Holds the audience 100% - ALL performance.  People (and this is the whole place) literally lept to their feet in a standing ovation when she finished. She had a packed house too by the way.   She had sold over 70CDs when I approached the table and there was about a 20m conga line still waiting to purchase after the performance.

A beautiful, fresh, NIL ego performance - totally captivating,  passionate, "bury in your bones" stuff!  Just SO good musically.  She - and her band - still have an aura of innocence about them.    At this performance there were 6 male choral vocalists included too from time to time - again, just brilliant. I can't qualify the genre - but I can say it is fantastic. An extremely talented lady to put this sort of thing together and one helluva musical experience.

We all decided we had to have more -and would go to her each time she did a show again - a few of us would have rounded up again on night two if there was one!  I am still stoked about it all (you wouldn't guess!).  This is all those things for the right recipe - fresh, innovative, technically and musically perfect - and immensely enjoyable by the masses!
