MY FICTION launches debut EP 'Your Tokyo' this Saturday at The Valley Studios.

Fresh from support slots with Magic Dirt, Brisbane’s My Fiction launch their debut EP “Your Tokyo” this Saturday night, August 9 at the Valley Studios.

The launch show wraps up a busy month that has seen the indie-electronic five-piece complete the EP, play pre-launch

gigs in Sydney plus the Magic Dirt supports, and along the way, pick up a Q-Song nomination for their track “Go”.

Recorded with Jeff Lovejoy at Black Box Studios, the “Your Tokyo” EP moves from the wasabi coated synth-pop of the title track to tales of love, loss and cultural imperialism.

In describing the six-track disc, vocalist Eric Robinson said adventures in the Japanese capital offered tremendous inspiration, but their debut release does not have a “rising sun” theme.

“I think any artist, whether they’re a songwriter, painter or novelist who went to Tokyo would be inspired by the energy there, but the EP is as much beef sausages and BMX bikes as it is sushi and fast trains,” Eric said.

Three days after the launch comes the announcement of the Q Song Awards, where My Fiction has a shot at taking home the award for best alternative song for “Go”, lifted from the “Your Tokyo” EP. Success there would see even busier times ahead for My Fiction.

Supporting My Fiction for the launch of “Your Tokyo” are Captains (Sydney), conscious hip hop outfit and John Butler Seed recipients Impossible Odds, Art of the State and DJ Dastardly Cuts, who also features on the EP with a remix of the lead track.
