| The Traveling So-&-So’s formed in the European summer of 2007, whilst busking throughout some of the more offbeat cultural hubs of the Northern Hemisphere. Now they’ve brought a taste back for our sleepy town as they battle it out in heat two of this Saturday's Valley Markets Busking Competition.
“There’s a certain kind of enjoyment that comes out of creating something simply out of a vibe from the audience or atmosphere you’re playing in.” Their recent blend prides itself on a mix of jazzy-blues, coffee house rock. “We’re like a sexy mix between Nancy Sinatra, The Cat Empire, Jefferson Airplane and The Doors,” says Kellie. The band have a strong European passion for all things bohemian, yet their individual ‘tweak’ forms a distinguishable beat. The Traveling So-&-So’s recently completed their demo album, recorded in an old converted Queenslander. “We had such a carefree attitude the whole time, and we were all so glad we avoided the stale and stressful atmosphere of a professional studio". “You can really detect this sense of carefree light-heartedness on the CD too, which is amazing,” she says. For a limited time, fans can grab a free copy of the Traveling So-&-So’s emerging album through their myspace: myspace.com/thetravelingsoandsos . To meet the Traveling So-&-So’s Kellie, Slav, Jessiah and Tyler in our fair city, be sure to catch them competing in Heat 2 of The Valley Markets Busking Competition, Saturday 16th August on the Brunswick St Mall.
