| BLACK MARKET RHYTHM CO. SELECTED FOR BIGSOUND ’08! Queensland boys, Black Market Music Co. (BMRC), have rocked their way into being selected as one of the showcase artists for the BIGSOUND ‘08 Conference in Brisbane this September 10-12th. This fantastic opportunity sets the guys up to perform in front of some of the industry’s heads from all corners of the globe and is the first of a run of gigs for the band which includes a WA tour. Their mix of vintage rock and indie pop is getting the band plenty of attention. The ‘Low-Fi Records, Hi-Fi Radio’ album has had four tracks get airplay. This, combined with their high energy, fun shows has made BMRC a must see act of 2008 - a year that has seen the band supporting the Beautiful Girls and Kate Miller-Heidke’s tours and touring on their own. BMRC have been on the up since 2005 performing at a string of niche summer festivals (Quiksilver Pro Show, Festival Of The Sun, Queenscliff Music Festival, Woodford (twice), Big Day Out) before heading into the studio for a few months with New York producer, Tidy Kid to record their ‘Low-Fi Records, Hi-Fi Radio’, album. Since then, the band have been riding high on the success of ‘Low-Fi Records, Hi-Fi Radio’ which features theme of classic rock and roll; boys meeting girls, boys playing music, boys having good times. The result is a delightful conundrum of roots-flavoured pop and roots-flavoured rock. “The music we make has this vintage rock energy to it, and everyone can tell we’re having an absolute ball, so we’re happy to roll with that.” It’s obvious these boys are enjoying their ride and so they should be as they look forward to BIG SOUND 2008 and their next tour in October/November which includes their first trek to the land of the WAMI’s; Western Australia.
