| Hailed by many as Australia’s answer to Pharrell, humble 22 year old Yeo (pronounced ‘Yo’) Choong is set to embark on an east coast tour in November that would make any god-like hip-hop producer proud. Although he may be regarded with the likes of those rolled by majors, Yeo has self-funded the tour with his five piece band ‘The Fresh Goods’ in the same D.I.Y fashion that is evident in his highly acclaimed debut album ‘Trouble Being Yourself’, which he recorded, mixed and produced in his bedroom come makeshift studio. Yeo and The Fresh Goods have developed a bullet proof reputation in Brisbane for bringing energetic, funk laced sets that have audiences mouthing catchy hooks for weeks after their shows. The band has already shared the stage with the likes of The John Steel Singers, Yves Klein Blue, and The Paper Scissors and will have floor boards shaking as they avalanche through Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne from 20 November – 7 December. Since exploding onto the scene as a Triple J Next Crop Artist in 2006, Yeo has generated buzz in both national and international music scenes for his record that bursts with energy, passion and musicality, and covers a mountain of genres from pop, through hip-hop, reggae and anything else he could get away with.
“…his debut album 'Trouble Being Yourself' sounds like a nerdier version of N.E.R.D. Indeed, the production on his standout track 'Two Sides Of A Door' would make Pharrell proud.” thecoolhunter.net
“Yeo – Australia’s version of Pharrell” CLEO
“This is rad. Very promising stuff from Australia’s answer to Phoenix and Cornelius.” Zan Rowe, Triple J
Yeo's east coast tour will see him deliver electrifying live performances to fresh interstate audiences and will leave no one wondering why the world is already talking.
