Logan will host the “World Connection” talent quest on 31st January 2009 at Logan PCYC, Jacaranda Avenue, Woodridge.

The event is being organised by Brisbane’s Champion Sound, and is aimed at providing opportunities for talented musical young people to help them pursue options in the creative industries.

Chris Jay, of Champion Sound, says “We are very excited about what is happening here. Logan is a very multicultural region. Through the use of urban music such as hip hop and reggae we are able to offer young people from all communities the chance to perform and express themselves”.

Participants are in with a chance to receive an extensive artist development package, which includes music business information and support, coaching, and a professional recording at Dubwise Productions studio, to be released nationwide in 2009.

Champion Sound is dedicated to community development through the use of music”, Chris said.

Other prizes up for grabs on the day include Ellaways Music vouchers and CD packs.

Greg Dodge, director of Ellaways Music, said “Logan is a vibrant multicultural region where there is a wealth of talent just waiting for the chance to show themselves. This program offers those people a real chance to get out there.”

The talent quest, presented under the banner of Champion Youth, is open to anyone and everyone, provided they can sing, MC or play an instrument, and burgeoning artists of all ages are encouraged to sign up.

Chris’s business partner, John Lumley, said “Around the world urban music has had huge success in uniting communities by bringing people together and creating positive social gatherings. This is a community orientated initiative supported by business, community and government organisations.”

The event will also feature performances from Champion Sound, Sunny Dread, Dee Kay and D Kazman.
