Carl Cleves opens the concert with his intimate and insightful one-man rollercoaster ride of deep songs, ace guitar playing and amazing tales by folk’s most eclectic songwriter, author and global citizen, drawn from his 3 latest releases and book ‘Tarab, Travels with my guitar’. Carl is an internationally acclaimed guitar-toting troubadour, adventurer, global citizen and ethnomusicologist is the Indiana Jones of folk. His roller coaster ride of emotion, eclectic melodic gems and wonderful storytelling makes him into one of Australia’s finest singer-songwriters. He has recorded 9 albums: 4 solo and 5 with The Hottentots and is the author of ‘Tarab: Travels with my guitar’, a mesmerizing tale of high adventure and the search for musical bliss. Carl’s songs and performances have captured the hearts and imagination of audiences in countless countries around the world. The Hottentots - one of Australia’s finest singer-songwriters, Flemish born nomad Carl Cleves and Greek-Australian songbird Parissa Bouas meld a satchel of styles to “create a wonderfully textured quilt of beautiful and meaningful songs.“ Carl’s unmistakable guitar style is utterly captivating” whilst “Parissa has a voice that would aggravate angels with its beauty.” They weave stories with songs, touching a deep vein of humanity that leaves audiences moved, uplifted and crying out for more.
