The Music By The Sea Festival (8-10 January, 2010)

 

The 8th Music By The Sea Festival (8-10 January, 2010) presents quality music in three venues of the picturesque, bay side area of Sandgate in Brisbane’s north.  It brings classical, folk, jazz, popular and world music by International, Australian, local professional and emerging artists.

 

Programmed artists for the 2010 Festival are Joe Chindamo, Oka, Carnatic Jazz Experiment, Brisbane Chamber Orchestra, Jeremy Eskenazi (France), Seaside Symphony Orchestra, Michael Fix, Tomas Julia Sojka (Slovakia), Tomas Rojcek (Slovakia), Anthony Garcia, Tim O’Brien, Ewan MacKenzie, Swing Manouche, Andrew Veivers, Gerard Mapstone, Colin Offord, Chris Finnen, Festival Choir and more.

 

The Festival opens on Friday night with the Velvet Cellar Cabaret (ticketed) at the Sandgate Town Hall.

 

A free concert on Sunday will feature Seaside Symphony Orchestra with the Festival Choir.

About Music By The Sea

 

Music By The Sea concerts began in 1997 and expanded with Music By The Sea Festivals in 2002, successfully bringing fine music to the northern suburbs of Brisbane. The concerts presented are Classical, Folk, Jazz, Popular and World music. The superb acoustics of the Sandgate Town hall enable us to have quality concerts ranging from solo recitals to orchestras to large choirs.

Past festivals included Roger Woodward, Simon Tedeschi, James Morrison, Joe Chindamo, Kev Carmody, Jane Rutter, Karin Schaupp, Jeff Lang, Riley Lee, Bob Brozman, Slava and Leonard Grigoryan and many more.

 

Location

 

The venue for the concerts is the Sandgate Town Hall, situated in the middle of the beautiful, historical seaside suburb of Sandgate. It can easily be accessed by a half hour Train or Bus ride from the city centre, with a 2 minute walk from the station to the venue.  If driving, ample parking is available nearby. The other venues, the Community Centre is 5 minute walk from the Town Hall and the library is next door to Town hall.
