TRANCE AT THE TROUB… BEATRONICA STYLE
Trip-hop band Beatronica are taking their funky fusion beats to the Troubadour Thursday April 29th, supporting popular electronica outfit Alphabeticus.
The bands are set to give Valley hipsters a night of epic multisensory trance, demonstrating Brisbane’s grasp on the forefront of trance fusion-culture.
The Brisbane fivesome is the brain-child of Aria-winning Ed Duquemin, from the highly respected world music group Gondwanaland.
Beatronica is fronted by the sexy pixie-sized Mars Girl, whose voice could put barrel-lunged soul singers to shame.
“She’s tiny but bam! - when she lets loose it’s just incredible the sounds she makes. It’s like Aretha made love to Pink Floyd and gave birth to this little pocket rocket babe,” Duquemin says.
The Troubadour is set to be a fabulous venue for Beatronica’s unique combination of trancy visuals and sound, which will meld deliciously with the Troub’s warm, plush surrounds. The mind-bending visuals are brought by manic metal-head VJ, Crazy Nafe. He creates impromptu projected visuals, which complement Beatronica’s sound perfectly, but are always different in each live show. No wonder this psychedelic crowd-pleaser of a show was described by TimeOff magazine as “Warhol’s New York via modern-day London.”
