STRICTLY NO BANJOS, XYLOPHONES, BACKING TRACKS OR FLANNELETTE: JUST GOOD MUSIC
(Tuesday, 07 September 2010) Written by fractions

Contrary to the current favour of skinny-jean-and-flannelette clad musicians with James Dean inspired hair and pop-folk tunes, local indie band Fractions has something new to offer live music fans: no post-modern folk or group hand claps, just good music.

The 5 Brisbane-based lads are tearing it up at venues such as The Zoo, X and Y Bar and coveted Fans Club Nights: The Club House and Lambda.  Their new trend of atmospheric “rock-tronica” is inspired by the likes of Muse and Radiohead and gives punters a much needed alternative to the genres currently dominating the Australian music industry.

The response at a recent gig at X and Y Bar on a pumping Saturday night from a full house of buzzing young trendsetters, was electric.  The verdict: Fractions for the win!

Originally from country origins the outfit is comprised of front man Tim Bateman, Adam Smith and the three Camilleri brothers – Faron, Jolen and Hamish.  The boys have been involved in the music industry for nearly a decade and bring a level of unprecedented maturity and professionalism to their craft.

As far as musicians go, they maintain a relatively low-key private life; their stage presence however is a thing not to be missed.

Fractions will release their brand new single ‘Holiday’ on 8 October at The Club House – Hotel Tempo.  The new track, dubbed ‘epic’ by those lucky enough to have enjoyed a sneak preview, is the first of a series of singles the band will be releasing over the next 12 months.

The future for Fractions is explosive and strictly free of folk-pop.
