| BLACK MARKET RHYTHM CO. new album
Emerging artists slash next big things have checklists: Queensland’s Black Market Rhythm Co. have been ticking boxes off since 2005, but after a string of niche summer festival appearances and a few months in the studio with New York producer Tidy Kid, the final item on the current list is about to be ticked.
Black Market Rhythm Co. first started making waves on the Queensland music scene three years ago when they firmly established themselves as one of the must-see acts from the Gold Coast. 2006’s Ain’t For Sale EP grabbed them enough airplay on Triple J to get a spot on the official voting list for that year’s hottest 100 and a slot on the Woodford Folk Festival’s emerging artists program.
Fast forward a few years, a few trips to Melbourne and back, and quite a few thousand MySpace friends later, and the band will tell that the release of their debut album, titled ‘Low-Fi Records, Hi-Fi Radio’ is the most exciting thing they’ve done to date.
The band have just played the Gold Coast Big Day Out and had a massive run of shows at the Woodford Folk Festival where they were chosen as the closing act. Everywhere we go, and every time we tour the crowds are getting bigger and louder.
