5...4...3...2...1... lift off! Mission Control are a Melbourne quartet who are about to do just that! A combination of synths and psych guitars Mission Control have science fiction atmospherics that merges Pink Floyd and Dr Who! Mission Control emerged from their bunker in February with a captivating array of demo recordings. Over many months, the band channeled their diverse influences: the hypnotic melody of The Stone Roses and The Cure, the sci-fi synths of Vangelis and Sebastien Tellier, the guitar noise of Sonic Youth and Deerhunter Yet it's a fesh sound too. Soaring choruses, shimmering noise, crowned by Lodi Zambruno's poignant voice. And when seminal French producer Phillipe Zdar (Cassius) takes notice of a new band, the whole world seems to listen up. The production genius and remixer of Phoenix, Air and Daft Punk, Zdar has the Midas touch. Next in line is Melbourne band Mission Control. The story goes: Zdar came across the Mission Control website and added a song by the band to his Myspace page, then emailed the band some encouraging feedback. Now plans are afoot for Zdar to produce their debut album late this year. And who says nline social-networking is a waste of time? Mission Control also caught the attention of Andrew Jackson, manager of independent Sydney-based label etcetc, who signed them soon after their performance in April with The Presets and CSS at the V Festival. While stages were being dismantled at Centennial Parklands, Jackson and the boys were planning the release of the band's debut EP. The band also joined the select booking agency roster at Modular. There is definitely no rest for these voyagers ... Once the boys have finished touring with Van She they will continue their journey across Australia for the launch of their EP “Innerspace”. With a captivating array of tracks Lodi, Raph, Troy and Glen will head elsewhere for an exclusive Queensland show on Friday, 3rd October. Brisbane band Twist Oliver, Twist will support the Melbourne boys, with Audun and Thomas J on the decks to end the night in true elsewhere style!
