New Zealand band, Spacifix, set to WOW Australia
(Thursday, 26 June 2008) Written by Carly Church

New Zealand band, Spacifix, is set to launch into the Australia market after a successful two year run in New Zealand and will be performing three free performances on the Queen St Mall stage on Sunday, June 29.

Spacifix musical style is a unique fusion of rock, reggae, soul, funk and pop, which they label as their own style ‘world fresh’.  Their songs are filled with soulful harmonies, catchy tunes and are performed with an energy and excitement that is second to none.

The band’s outstanding stage performance draws inspiration from theatre, film, comedy and good old-fashioned rock n’ roll and is an experience unto itself.  The combination of song selection and choreographed dance moves is bound to get the audience moving and is an act not to be missed.

The eight-piece band launched their professional career in New Zealand in 2006 with a remake of Osibisa’s 1976 hit song, Sunshine Day, which hit the NZ top 20 charts and stayed there for ten weeks.

Since then the band have become one of New Zealand’s busiest bands and have acquired a list of achievements, including opening for UB40 in the Kingdom of Tonga in 2006, performing at New Zealand’s largest musical event, “Christmas in the Park” in 2006 and performing at Woodford Folk Festival in 07/08.

They have also been granted three television awards in Los Angeles for their Music videos, Gotta Get Like This, Make Things Right and Sunshine Day.

The list of their achievements continues to grow and according to their Agent, Mike Penney, Spacifix are excited to launch into the Australian market and believe that this is just the beginning of their career.

“Spacifix are committed to delivering fresh, original, exciting music and performances. They have their eye on the world stage and work tirelessly towards this goal”, said Mike.

Spacifix will do three twenty-minute performances commencing at 11am, 12pm and 1pm with merchandise available for sale after each show.

Spacifix performance guarantees to be a great day out and is an event that the whole family can enjoy!
