  1. Get Forthright For A Fortnight: The Brisbane Festival has opened and will slip away if you don’t jump on the program and start hitting up lectures, performances and tasty, tasty visuals. My picks; Feasting On Flesh @ The Speigeltent, Big Square Eye, The Oliver Sacks lecture, and The Goldberg Variations contemporary ballet using prosthetics. The festival ends on August 3 – head to www.brisbanefestival.com.au for a full program.
  2. Back In The Frontline: This is the third week of the new Working Dog Productions vehicle on ABC TV. You’ve probably heard of it; if you haven’t, it’s called The Hollowmen and is about backstage staffers in parliament and the tawdry path trekked from policy to the public. It’s basically Frontline in Canberra, and I miss Frontline. ABC TV Wednesday nights at 9:30pm.
  3. Dust Off Your Tassels: Adelaide Fringe Festival is calling for artist registrations from August 1. Apparently the festival is awesome and makes Adelaide seem like quite the happening city. Prep your portfolio and head to www.adelaidefringe.com.au for registration information. Registration closes October 10, earlybird closes September 1. The Festival runs from Feb 27  – March 22 2009.
  4. Put Baby In The Corner: The U.S. So You Think You Can Dance is on every Wednesday night, and the contenders have names like Thane and Comfort. Brilliant. You can also download episodes on YouTube but they have about twelve parts. I hate to plug anything on Channel 10, but sometimes you have to keep your enemies closer… Wednesday nights at 7:30pm.
  5. Can We Get Less Action From The Backsection?: The Battle City afterparty was at Uber. Some friends and I went to have our drinks outside, but it turns out drinks aren’t allowed on the deck anymore because some people recently threw glasses onto the street below. Who are these cockheads, and did they sing the national anthem while they did it? Good one. Cheers to drinking responsibly.
