It was bound to happen eventually. Surya is a new London club, and it is claiming to be the world’s first environmentally friendly nightspot. The first ‘eco-disco’ claims to have solar-energy panels, a wind turbine, waterless urinals, low-flush toilets and eco-friendly air-conditioning units, but also Surya club owners are claiming is has a ‘high-tech alternative energy dancefloor’ that utilises ‘materials such as quartz crystals, ceramics, cutting-edge technology and the dancing motion of clubbers to generate part of the club's energy requirements’. We’re not sure of the validity of such a statement, but check it out for yourself at www.club4climate.com. Just be a little cautious of Dr Earth.
