AUDIO-TECHNICA LP2D-USB
Vinyl-To-Digital Recorder
The LP2D-USB is a complete USB turntable and software package that makes it easy to transfer vinyl records to digital media files and CDs. It includes a turntable and phono cartridge, PC- and Mac-compatible software, a USB cable that connects the turntable directly to a computer and other accessories.
The turntable features fully automatic operation and a 33-1/3 and 45 RPM speed selector to play vinyl formats from LP albums to 12-inch and 7-inch singles. The turntable is designed to deliver high-quality sound, with a balanced aluminium platter, precision Dual Magnet stereo cartridge with replaceable stylus and a pickup arm with soft damping control. The turntable’s supplied USB cable enables plug-and-play connection to a desktop or laptop computer. Its built-in switchable phono preamp, RCA output cables and adapter cables allow connection to a wide variety of music and home entertainment systems, as well as to A/V receivers that do not include a dedicated phono input.
The supplied Cakewalk PYRO (for PC) and Audacity (for Mac or PC) software converts the audio on a record to MP3, WAV or Windows Media audio files, for playback on a wide variety of portable audio players, computers, home media centres and car audio systems. The PYRO software also features DeClicker and DeNoiser utilities that automatically remove pops, clicks, noise and hiss from LP recordings (though this is blasphemous), as well as design software for creating personalized CD jewel case artwork and CD labels.
RRP US$229.
AUDIO-TECHNICA AT2035
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The AT2035 is intended for a wide variety of miking applications, including overheads, acoustic instruments and guitar cabinets, it features a large diaphragm for smooth, natural sound and low noise. High SPL handling and a wide dynamic range offer unmatched versatility, and a custom shock mount provides superior isolation. The mic’s cardioid polar pattern reduces the pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of the desired sound source. Designed to provide versatility in the most demanding recording applications, the AT2035 has a fixed cardioid polar pattern and features excellent performance specifications, including: a flat, extended frequency response (20-20,000 Hz); high SPL handling capability (148 dB, 158 dB with the 10 dB pad); and an element yielding extremely low self-noise (12 dB SPL). Employing Audio-Technica’s modern engineering and manufacturing technology, every aspect of the AT2035 has been tailored for a very smooth, natural sound while ensuring maximum accuracy, making it a perfect complement for today’s digital recording equipment.
MSRP US$249.
AUDIO-TECHNICA AT2050
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The AT2050 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone is ideal for studio use and live sound productions with vocals, piano, strings, overheads, guitar amps and more. It offers three switchable polar patterns: omni, cardioid and figure-eight. Its dual large diaphragm capsule design maintains precise polar pattern definition across its full frequency range (20-20,000 Hz). The AT2050 has the ability to handle high SPL’s (149 dB, 159 dB with the 10 dB pad) with extremely low self-noise (17 dB SPL). In addition, its dual diaphragms are gold-vaporized and aged to achieve optimum characteristics over years of use. Finally, its state-of-the-art surface-mount electronics ensure compliance with A-T’s stringent consistency and reliability standards.
Both the AT2050 and the AT2035 feature a switchable integral 80 Hz high-pass filter and a 10 dB pad. The filter provides easy switching from a flat frequency response to a low-end roll-off. The high-pass position reduces the microphones’ sensitivity to popping in close vocal use. It also reduces the pickup of low-frequency ambient noise. Output from each microphone’s XLRM-type connector is low impedance (Lo-Z) balanced; each mic comes with a shock mount and a protective pouch.
MSRP US$369.
AUDIO-TECHNICA AT4021 + AT4022
Condenser Microphones
In August Audio-Technica will be releasing their AT4021 cardioid and AT4022 omnidirectional pencil condenser microphones. These mics, both featuring a sleek new capsule design/construction, are the latest additions to Audio-Technica’s acclaimed 40 Series of condenser microphones. Ideal for critical studio and live applications, these mics offer outstanding performance and versatility, perfect for acoustic guitars, strings, percussion, overhead, high-hat and other acoustic instruments. Additionally, as an omnidirectional microphone, the AT4022 is great for ensemble use, stereo recording, and group/background vocals.
Both the AT4021 Cardioid Condenser Microphone and the AT4022 Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone feature high SPL handling and wide dynamic range, as well as flat, extended frequency response and exceptional reproduction of low-frequency sounds. The AT4021’s cardioid polar pattern reduces pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of the desired sound source. The AT4022’s omnidirectional polar pattern provides maximum ambient pickup. Both microphones offer a low-mass element for superb transient response.
An integral 80 Hz high-pass filter provides easy switching from a flat frequency response to a low-end roll-off. The roll-off position reduces the microphones’ sensitivity to popping in close vocal use. It also reduces the pickup of low-frequency ambient noise, room reverberation and mechanically-coupled vibrations. Output from both microphones’ XLRM connectors is low impedance (Lo-Z) balanced.
MSRP AT4021 US$495; AT4022 $495.
