- The inaugural Ashu Babu Memorial Tabla School Concert occurs at Sunnybank Community Hall Saturday Aug 9. Featuring Bhajan, group performances by Navdha Kumar, Kanhaiya Kumar and Thejeswaran Elankayer, Shayne Prakash and Krishanu Debroy, Sanjeyan Sivaananthan and Jesinthan Ketheeswaran tickets are $10 (family) and $5 (adults) for this percussive feast.
- Lovers of the Crue will be pleased to hear this announcement of a fifth Motley Crue Bash. Featuring members of Mourningide, Devilution, A Secret Death, Neokin, Kill The Apprentice, and Bark At The Moon, there will be two teams – Team Motley and Team Crue – vying for top honours when the Crue Bash takes over the Coolangatta Hotel Saturday Aug 9. Entry is $15.
- The Step Inn has a chockablock Saturday Aug 9 when it hosts Sydney’s The Fumes, Little Vegas & The Fuzz Parade, Blackwater Fever, Black Mustang, At Sea, Hits, and Numbers Radio from 4.30pm. There’s a $2 sausage sizzle, giveaways and it costs $18.
- Indie rockers The Sunpilots are touring nationally to promote their debut album Living Receiver. Calling into the Beach Hotel, Thursday Aug 14; the Hard Rock Café Friday Aug 15 and the Globe Theatre Saturday Aug 16 the Sydney quartet have been garnering favourable radio support – head along to see what the fuss is about.
- Indie club night Common People – now working in conjunction with the heavier-oriented Snitch as part of alt-superclub Thriller at Rosie’s – is going live for the first time on Saturday Aug 16. That night you can catch indie-pop-folksters Little Scout launching their debut CD, alongside performances from Fun At Sea (Rialto Decibel Choir as a duo), psych-rockers Idle Cranes, and the Guilty Pleasures DJs (Monster Joe’s). Doors at 9pm.
- Indie popsters Hungry Kids Of Hungary have a few upcoming shows, they play the Valley Studios Friday Aug 22 with Little Scout and Buick Six ($15), and free show at the Tongue & Groove Saturday Aug 23 with The Grove and Little Vegas & the Fuzz Parade.
- Locals The Daisycutters will join The Modfather – Mr Paul Weller – as support act for his two sell out Tivoli shows Saturday Aug 23 and Sunday Aug 24, before launching their CD at The Zoo Friday Aug 29 with The Sunburys and The Echo Thieves.
