DANNA & THE CHANGES – Consonant Cacophony PDF Print E-mail

Too many changes, not enough constant cacophony.

The first two tracks off Consonant Cacophony had me up and dancing – by up and dancing, I mean I was tapping my feet on the floor. Then Good Times came on and after listening to six minutes of monotony I was ready to get my tapping feet and start kicking things with them. The rest of the album is similarly hit and miss; for every great track comes bland filler that is like a glaring brake light slowing down the momentum. Danna has talent and charisma that emanates through Consonant Cacophony, but he and his band The Changes seem mighty confused about where they fall in the music tree. Is it The Beach Boys crooners, Beatles balladeers or rock & roll sweethearts? I hope it’s the latter, because when these guys rock, they certainly leave nothing unshaken. Until they come to that realisation, they’ll only get one thumb up from me and not both.
