(Rabbit/Stomp)
Living with the midnight sun can do things to your brain
Before hitting play on this DVD, I hoped – seeing as I am no longer a teen living at home – that these Finnish nutters would still prove as enjoyable to me as they did to my adolescent self. After watching Season 2 with my face screwed up with hysterical joy the entire time, I wonder why I even doubted the fact.
The greatest thing about The Dudesons (as compared to Jackass) is that nothing is forced. It really seems to be their life and the series is merely an insight into this slightly disturbed world. The humour is more on themselves than the public and this is what is most enjoyable about them. Even after watching Jukka spray Jarppi’s private parts with Tabasco sauce, HP nearly die after a double-car flipping stunt and Jarno go ballistic when Jarppi explodes his car with dynamite, you still cannot help but feel an affinity with these goofy Peter Pans. It’s still the same old shenanigans: harmful, violent and crazy. However, they are still as funny and entertaining as ever.
The extras included on the DVD are just as good as the eight television episodes that make up the second series. There are two bonus episodes (one consisting of The Dudesons in Australia) and nearly an hour of deleted footage that perfectly compliments the series.
If you are more into highbrow intellectual stimulation, The Dudesons will not be for you. If, like me, you still find the sight of someone being kicked in the genitals amusing, then get this now and let the fun begin. Rock & roll!
