DEAR APRIL, EP SOON TO BE RELEASED PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 09 August 2008

Folk-pop rockers Dear April are pleased to announce the release of their debut, self-titled EP!  The Brisbane-based band will be celebrating with a show on Thursday, September 11 at the Zoo, joined by special guests Maverick and Hannah Acfield.

For Dear April, the EP has been a long time coming.  "We've only been performing under the alias of Dear April for just less than 5 months, but for about a year we were a trio known as the Dan Acfield Band," said singer-songwriter and band frontman Dan Acfield.  "Even when we were recording the EP, it was still under the guise of a solo driven project."

Recording the EP was not always straightforward for the band either, with the first day of recording marred by the illness of drummer, Wes Ong.  Halfway through the recording session, Wes was rushed to the emergency ward of the Byron Bay Hospital, only to finish recording later that day.  “It was the worst day of my life! I was so sick!” exclaimed Wes.  “We were so worried, but surprisingly, the recording turned out well, considering.”

Nowadays, there is no looking back for Dear April, who have already begun planning for their next release.  "We kept becoming more and more collaborative," stated bassist Brenton Comerford.  "I think it's reflected in these recordings.  We were definitely Dear April long before we actually became Dear April."

Dear April launch their self-titled, 6 track EP at the Zoo on Thursday, September 11.  Doors open 8pm, $10 entry.
