  • Local rocker Joel Myles has enlisted Joal Pascoe of Final Days Of Autumn and Per Stenback of Shifter to complete the line-up for his Joel Myles Band. You can catch the trio playing with The Royal Artillery at Ric’s on Sunday Aug 24, and considering Joel’s last gig had 120 people crammed into Kitty O’Shea’s, it might be an idea to get there early.
  • Punk-psych-garage label Turkeyneck Records will be hosting a huge launch party for three acts on their roster at the Step Inn on Saturday Sep 6. Brisbane stalwarts Blowhard release Five Minute Ride Through Hell (a 34 track best-of); Adelaide’s Kamizake launch new album Crash Burn & Bleed; and surf exotica/canto pop act (!) Chucknee introduce A Display Of Performances Imitating Things. Alongside these three acts, the night will also feature sets from Pineapples From the Dawn Of Time, Crackwhore (MEL), and The Busymen.
  • Folktronic-hip hop-leftfield wunderkinds Underlapper (SYD) are set to play a couple of anticipated shows in Brisbane, visiting the Valley Studios Sep 5 (with The Rational Academy and Mr Maps) and The Hangar Sep 6 (supports TBA). Prepare with a visit to www.myspace.com/underlapper
