ImageI understand you’re currently looking for a fourth member – why is that?

When we first formed as a three-piece we were so pleased with the result we never really gave any thought to more members. But as we progressed and developed, we felt as though there was definitely space for one more. And from a writing perspective it’s going to open up a lot and we think it’ll make a massive difference to our overall sound.

Do you all share a part in writing the lyrical content of your tracks? And where do you draw your inspiration from for them?

Generally I do the lyrics. It’s probably my least favourite part of the songwriting process. Probably because music often takes its own course a lot of the time, whereas writing lyrics is more conscious. Inspiration could come from anywhere, but I guess a lot of the songs are about people, interaction, emotions, perspective etc.

Your upcoming show with The Bloodpoets will be your first appearance at the Zoo. How excited are you?

We’re thrilled; the Zoo is an amazing venue, with some wonderful artists playing here through the years. It really is a piece of Brisbane’s history.

The Transits are relatively new to the local scene, forming as a result of your TAFE music course mid last year. Have you developed any dedicated fans yet?

We still haven’t made our big break yet, so to speak. We generally get positive feedback on our performances and people really seem to respond to our music, but I guess we just need to get our music out to enough ears before results can happen. So we’re not as famous as we’d like but then again we’re happy with the progress we’ve made in our time on the scene so far.

Who are some Aussie acts you would love to support?

Well, Silverchair is one of my all time favourite bands. To play a gig with those guys would pretty much be a dream come true, excuse the cliché.

THE TRANSITS play with The Bloopoets and City Sweep at The Zoo on Wednesday Aug 27. Check some demos at www.myspace.com/thetransitsofficial
