  • Pop garage trio Table And Chair and girl punkers Go Go Go Go play Ric’s Bar on Thursday. They’re off to record down south soon, so they’ll be issuing some fresh tunes (or fine-tuning some old ones).
  • The Decline Of Modern Civilisation returns to Tongue & Groove this Thursday.  Digital folk wanderer Anonymeye will be hoping to raise the dimes for an upcoming European tour, while ‘space-drone neo gurus’ Blank Realm, ‘8-bit beat-pop master’ Collapsicon and ‘psych-rock jam band’ Secret Birds flesh out the bill. DJ Lame and OtherFilm DJs will be DJing and VJing. It’s $6 from 8pm.
  • Tim Reid returns to old stomping grounds when he supports the now Melbourne-based songstress Sophie Koh on the Gold Coast at Currumbin’s SoundLounge on Friday, alongside Grand Salvo. Koh and Grand Salvo then head up to the Judith Wright Centre on Saturday.
  • Local act Biff Co headline a special RSPCA fundraiser at the The Globe this Thursday night. $10 will get you performances by Zeugna and Wren, as well as a warm glow inside.
  • At Sea bring their mix of blues, country and garage in support of nu-goths The Wreckery, Spencer P. Jones and Halfway at The Step Inn on Friday, followed by Valley Fiesta performance Sunday Sep 14, and a EP release show Friday Oct 3.
  • The Friday Club Blink at 299 Brunswick St hosts a special Disturbed pre-tour party alongside the launch of the new Scars On Broadway album. You can go in the running for Disturbed concert tickets and CDs from both featured acts at www.clubblink.net. On Saturday at the same venue Trash has MGMT and Metro Station giveaways. www.trashsaturdays.com
  • Wild FM alumni DJ Jimmy Z is embarking on a tour to launch the eighth 4PLAY club music compilation. The ‘National Glowstick Tour’ takes in the Calamvale Hotel on Friday, followed by the Swell Tavern (Burleigh Heads) on Friday Sep 5, the Cube Hotel (Toowoomba) Friday Sep 12, and the Alexandra Hills Hotel Saturday Sep 13. Ladies and gentlemen, start your raving.
  • Riverfire celebrations hit town this week and if you find yourself South Bank side, you may like to wander into some jazz stylings as offered by the Dan Quigley Trio and the Sassy String Quartet on the River Decks of the State Library. The fireworks kick off Saturday from 7pm, with free entertainment for most of the afternoon.
