- Folk Fiesta heads to The Step Inn on Thursday with, arguably, the only ‘burlesque-rhumba-jazz-country-&-blues-infused’ gig of the week. Featuring Jack Mash (Jackie Marshall and band), Timbah, Matt Nelson & The Polyomnipresence and The Travelling So & So’s, doors are at 8pm and entry is $11/$9 concessions.
- The Chiki Musicadium Party is hosted by BarSoma on Thursday, and features The Hungry Kids of Hungary, Steve Grady, Kissy Trouble Company, Joe Barbaro and Benjamin Hooper. Best of all – it’s free!
- Congratulations to local songstress Clare Reynolds who recently scored the runner-up spot in the UK Songwriting Contest’s Pop Category with her track I Won’t Break. You can catch Clare at the Glass Bar Thursday and Friday or check out her track at www.myspace.com/clarereynoldsmusic.
- Kim Salmon & The Surrealists continue The Step Inn’s huge week on Friday with a blistering line-up that includes Gentle Ben & His Sensitive Side, Butcher Birds and Kewpie Doll. Head to OzTix ASAP for tickets.
- Club Blink celebrates the exclusive album launch for Metallica’s newie Death Magnetic with a Valley Fiesta and Launch Party happening at Club 299 on Friday. There are giveaways, promos and the hint of a ‘celebrity guest’. Doors open at 9pm for the debut of Metallica’s latest opus, being played in its entirety.
- The Mono Festival happens at The IMA Friday, and features such experimental noisemakers Lucas Abela, Robin Fox, Blank Realm and Tim Olive. Be there at 7pm sharp for this free event.
