Face-melting runs, complex arpeggios, ultimate picking the likes of which Dragonforce would be proud to put their name to – this is a guitarist’s wet dream. It’s like listening to the greatest car racing video game soundtrack ever produced. Your blood’s pumping, waiting for the lights to go green as the songs build. A nice rhythm guitar gets you going through the chicanes. You’re building speed. Suddenly you’re in the mountains, turning and sliding with Palmer’s fretwork at a breakneck pace. Subtle gear changes keep you in control, keep you focused. You hit the home straight with Outlines leading you on with a two second lead and bragging rights over your buddies for the rest of the evening. Thank you Bill Palmer: you’ve inspired me to take up Colin McRae Rally once more.
