MOOLLON are a Korean-based manufacturer of boutique pedals, guitars and pickups. Their products are all hand-made using literally the best quality components available, the heavy-duty stainless-steel enclosures are then hand-engraved with gorgeous pieces of art, and individually tested for quality. Part of their pedal line involves painstaking recreations of vintage designs using rare components, which we will focus on today.
Moollon Revibe
Uni-Vibe Clone
The Uni-Vibe, the product that embodies the rotating speaker simulation, can now be authentically heard once again in the Moollon ReVibe. The light producing bulb, reflecting mirror cover, light/darkness-receiving photocell, and vintage-spec transistor make up the core parts of the ReVibe, and an exact design replication of the legendary Uni-Vibe means a true rebirth of the original, as proven in the foundational parts: the high efficiency miniature CDS and custom made-to-order mirror cover. The unique vibrato and supple feeling that the ReVibe adds to a guitar range of tones sets it apart from every other Uni-Vibe clone on the market, in that this is the first true recreation of the original. From sweeping, phaser-like dreamy chorus tones naturally emanating from the guitar’s natural low-mid range resonance to a fast rotating speaker simulation, a wide spectrum of tonal possibilities are made available. Producing a well-balanced timbre without leaning heavily toward either low or high frequencies, the Moollon ReVibe will prove to show the true tonal essence of the original vibrato pedal.

Moollon Vintage Wah
‘60s Wah-Wah
Moollon Vint Age Wah is based on the early wahs like pre-Clyde McCoy in ‘66, Clyde McCoy in ‘67, and V846 in ‘69. The same spec of capacitors as pre-Clyde McCoy were used for wah’s Q point range and inductors – one of the most important parts for the authentic sound – are all handmade one by one to the exact spec of those “small centre hole” inductors in ‘67 Clyde McCoy wahs. All the other parts are of the spec of ‘68 V846 for the clear and transparent sound. CTS pots – the closest to the original ICAR – were used for smooth sweep and open sound. All these handmade and selected parts guarantee the top quality wah sound. You can also choose one of the two bypass options: Split Bypass – Sounds are compatible with each other when bypassed or turned ON. A kind of treble loss occurs when bypassed, which results in warm and mellow tone, one of the contributing factors to those gutsy sounds in 1960s. Also this character can be utilized to make a fuzz pedal sound clearer and more transparent by preceding it in the signal chain. True Bypass – Almost no treble loss when bypassed. Recommended for hi-fi sounds with wide frequency range with wah as an occasional special effect.

Moollon Lotus Octah
Octavia Clone
Lotus Octah reincarnates the original fuzz tone, octave-up sound, and volume response of the vintage Octavia with the same spec of parts and circuit. Especially the transformer – the core element of Lotus Octah – is wound, tested, tuned, and optimised by Moollon one by one to guarantee the most authentic sound discriminated from any other Octavia clone. True-bypass with LED in a compact size case brings ease of use and aesthetic look.

Moollon Class A Boost
‘60s Treble Booster w/ EQ
No one can deny the importance of the treble booster in the history of the British Rock sound, and now the same circuit type is embodied and expanded in the Class A Boost. It enables one to approach tone from new angles, the Class A Boost is born of an experimental idea (circuitry, design) developed to incur a new degree of creative response from a player. 3 independent equalisation circuits are connected to drive specially selected frequency ranges, and with the collective balance a player can dial in one’s desired tone. The full-range Lo-boost is warmly fuzzy yet never harsh, yielding a tight sound that works well with not only electric guitars, but also makes an excellent boost for bass guitarists who need a wide-range boost that accentuates a full low end. The Mid Boost helps define the essential sonic contour in a guitar’s mid frequencies, providing a clear and present midrange when boosted without typical overdrive clipping, resulting in a refreshing midrange drive. The Hi Boost is based on the silicone transistor treble boosters of the ‘60s and ‘70s, boosting upper frequencies with a uniquely clear and transparently shimmering high end.

Moollon Fuzz 14
‘60s Silicon Fuzz
The Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face sound – origin of all distortion pedals and the legend through decades to the present – born again in a new body. Named after the atomic number of silicon, Fuzz Fourteen realises the cool and open sound of the late ‘60s silicon transistorised fuzz pedals. The original BC108C transistors, capacitors with the same spec, carbon composition resistors, and the original spec wires are all hand selected and matched to complete the top fuzz sound and minimize variations. True-bypass with LED in a compact size case brings ease of use and aesthetic look. It’s interesting to note that Moollon only produced 50 units of their germanium transistor Fuzz Face clone, as the original parts are difficult to come by. If you own one, rejoice.
