Jam Factory @ Neverland - Launch 18 January!! PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 12 January 2009

On Sunday 18th January, an exciting new live original music night is kicking off at brand new uber cool club, Neverland. The night is called Jam Factory and it’s proudly presented by Gold Coast based music collective Essence Projectile.

In 2008 the Essence Projectile crew, led by musical couple Freddy Holler and Emily Cook, produced an exciting multi-media project which consisted of a 2 track EP and 15 minute documentary film featuring the collaborative efforts of some of the Gold Coasts finest musicians and visual artists. In November, they hosted a successful festival-style launch party which featured live music, indigenous and flamenco dance, visuals, fire art and of course, the screening of the film.

To reign in the new year in style, the couple are launching a brand new weekly night called Jam Factory at Coolangatta club Neverland. The night will feature live, original music from a range of local acoustic artists and bands, plus the occasional touring guest. Emily and Freddy AKA Tigerlily and Freddy Flyfingaz will also be spinning a sweet selection of soulful retro funk throughout the night. The launch party on Sunday January 18th boasts a killer line-up of exceptional local talent in the form of acoustic duo Soul Company, surf rock favourite Dan Hannaford and acoustic roots legend Clay Blyth.

The following Sunday is sure to be massive with the Australia Day holiday the following day and what better way to celebrate than at the Jam Factory with the ambient blues voice of miss Katia Demeester, the hip-hip jazz stylings of the inimitable Loustar and the energetic funk jam that is A French Butler Called Smith wrapping up the night.

Emily and Freddy have exciting plans for the future of Jam Factory, with such quirky activities as comedy, poetry, spoken word, fashion parades, workshops, competitions and dance performances all to be incorporated into the night alongside the music.

Jam Factory is held at the supremely sexy new venue Neverland which is located at 23 McLean St, Coolangatta. The event occurs every Sunday starting January 18, doors open at 5pm, the music kicks off around 7pm and is open till late. Entry is a mere $5 on the door.
