- Courtney Love’s next solo album has had its release date pushed back to later in the year after the original plan, to release it on New Year’s Day, fell through. The album, called Nobody’s Daughter, will come out at some point in 2009 and be sponsored by two companies – one a brand of tequila, the other a tampon manufacturer.
- Good news for Nine Inch Nails fans with really big download limits. Trent Reznor has announced that he’s giving away over 400 GB of unedited footage from three of his recent shows. Get thee to bitTorrent or the forums at nin.com if you’re interested.
- Why does ‘flexible pricing’ always mean ‘increased price’? Apple have been able to negotiate the removal of DRM from songs available on iTunes, but at the cost of their hardline on pricing that kept their songs at $US0.99. The price of new songs will increase, while older catalogue material gets cheaper. There will also be a charge for those who wish to have the copy protection removed from files they’ve already purchased.
- As part of GoMA’s Kids: Contemporary Australia Summer Festival two rather different musicians will be performing with their families. Ben Ely from Regurgitator will be performing with his daughters on Jan 16-17, while Idol’s Guy Webster performs with young members of his family on Jan 21-26. Both events take place on the River Room stage and are free.
- Iconic Melbourne venue The Hi-Fi is planning to open a Brisbane branch later this year, taking over a multi-level pub in West End.
