  • Melbourne folk band Fee Brown & The Highwater will be playing with fellow Melbournite singer-songwriter Lindsay Phillips at The Troubadour on Wednesday Jan 21.
  • It’s officially time to feel okay about feeling nostalgic for grunge. The Globe are hosting their second From Seattle To The Globe extravaganza on Thursday Jan 22, with Smells Like Kent Street and guests Biff Co., Like A Bard and All Star Angst. Apparently last year’s show went off, so pony up your $10.00+bf for a ticket now.
  • Psychedelic prog-metallers Lysergic are launching their EP at Monstrothic at Rosie’s on Friday Jan 23. In support will be The Kidney Thieves, Voltera and Dead Letter Opener. Doors open at 8pm. 
    Lockdown’s first bash for 2009 takes place at the Jubilee Hotel on Saturday Jan 24 (Australia Day Weekend), with The Casino Rumblers, Secondhand Smoke (Sublime tribute act), The Pretty Boys, Star Sludge, Legions Of Mary, Perhaps Maybe?!?, Dementia 13, Checkered Fist, The Dead Ringers, The Pints and The Flangipanis. It’ll be a super-cheap $5 on the door.
  • The Surfers Paradise Hard Rock Café plays host to Magic Dirt and As We Are on Saturday Jan 24. Doors open at 10pm, tickets are $20.
  • Black Mustang will be playing their first show for 2009 on Sunday Jan 25 at The QUT Guild Bar with Rhiannon Hart, Enola Fall, Smokestack Orchestra and Linc Le Fevre. Tickets are $10.
  • Electronic two-piece AxxOnn are Iron On’s Ian Rogers and sound artist/Secret Birds collaborator Tom Hall. They’ll be playing Ric’s on Thursday Jan 29 with Loomer supporting.
  • If drum & bass and boats are your things, the Shiver Me Bass-Bins cruise is for you. Catch the Brisbane Star boat from the Riverside Centre on Eagle Street on Australia day and you’ll be able to enjoy DJs De la Haye vs. Daskyze, Speakerwrath, Illicit, Kosha D, Operon and Erther. Tickets are available from Rockinghorse Records.
  • Brisbane’s own Little Scout are all grown up and announcing their first national tour. They’ll be heading off with Belles Will Ring and Philadelphia Grand Jury for company. Along the way they’ll play Byron Bay’s Great Northern on Thursday Mar 5, Toowoomba’s Bon Amici on Friday Mar 6 and The Troubadour on Saturday Mar 7.
