- Last year’s grunge night at The Globe was quite the success, so it’s being repeated this Thursday night. From Seattle To The Globe II presents live bands Smells Like Kent Street, Biff Co., Like A Bard and The All Star Angst paying tribute to ’90s grunge greats all night long. Tickets are $12.
- If that’s not enough nostalgia for you then on Friday Retro-Spekt at The Globe presents The Cure Goth Party. Watch videos, win prizes, drink drinks, dance, bitch about the emo kids and weep the night away in your best black as a DJ plays The Cure and other gothy classics from 9pm. Entry is $10.
- Lilly’s Ether will be gazing at their shoes one last time this Saturday when they play at The Globe. The goodbye gig will also double as the launch for their EP, now acting as their epitaph. Support acts on the night will be Big Dead, Piers, The Anima Orchestra, Jim Grundy and William Moon Book Society. Things kick off at 8pm and entry is $10.
- If your bar or pub is planning to tune into the JJJ Hottest 100 on Monday Jan 26, you can register as an Official Party venue at www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/parties.htm to be featured on their venue map and receive a stack of posters, stickers and coasters to help promote the event.
- The Gold Coast Music Industry Association (GCMIA) have an open mic night on the last Wednesday of every month at Zullaz restaurant, Burleigh Heads. From 6.30pm to 9.30pm the talent performs and at the end the audience votes for whichever act they enjoyed the most. The winner is given a year-long GCMIA membership.
