Cow punk poetry with (TISM-sized) chops
There are people out there who believe ROOT! frontman, DC Root, is Humphrey B. Flaubert of TISM fame. There are others who cling to their agnosticism. The enlightened know the truth: DC Root is a prophet, a conduit of divine rage and s(n)earing insight, sent to uplift the collective consciousness of a reluctant and insipid society. Root Supposed He Was Out Of The Question shifts between alt-country and hip hop via garage, gospel and some blues piano, but the music is often secondary to DC's rambling, spoken word diatribes. While each piece is a cerebral giant, turning deftly on wit, wordplay and epiphany, those just in it for a TISM revival are still likely to be disappointed. Simple believers in vitriol and punning as a vocation, however, should heed this album's call.
