Incomprehensibly mediocre classic rock VS economics quip?
Theory of value is an umbrella economics term encompassing the various ideals behind formulations of commodity price, or worth. When I saw this band’s name, I was immediately smitten with the possibilities of a new musical genre: economics rock. I wasn’t sure how, or what exactly would be perpetrated, but I knew this release was important. I was almost right. Theory Of Value’s self-titled EP actually disproves the premise of labor theories of value (LTV). If I could believe this was deliberate, I would give it five stars and call it a gas. Unfortunately, I think the EP is more of a comic oversight than a masterstroke. Theory Of Value have released something so derivative it may as well not exist, thereby brutalising the idea that value is created intrinsically through exertion (LTV). And they’ve done it under the banner of a relevant economics term. Accidental, ironic genius.
