Motion passed
We climb aboard a time machine to look upon this album, released abroad September last year. The third full-length from the New Mexican psychy/folky duo, Motion To Rejoin is silky smooth and a little bit sexy. The slow-burning funk of Hologram Buffalo sets the tone for the record. The eight-minute long Gathered Years moves just as slowly, brooding and atmospheric, hints of a jazzier Bardo Pond or Beach House. The soul tinge of Oppressions Each has Nathan Shineywater sounding like a very relaxed Jason Pierce. By the time you reach Another Reclamation you may start to drift in and out like some sort of erratic gaseous cloud, but don’t worry, I think that’s meant to happen. This is a deliberate, powerful record that feels slow and lazy, but that’s only because it’s drugged you with its tight, uncompromising grip.
