Sometimes it’s hard to review country music
How her management allowed for the title, Balls, I’ll never understand. Shudder. Giggle. Perhaps the problem lies in my lack of maturity to see past the fact Ms. Cook is probably NOT declaring herself transsexual, but rather referencing the track, Sometimes It Takes Balls To Be A Woman. This courage is best displayed in opener Times Are Tough In Rock And Roll, with the line "All my feelings / All my fears / We confirmed with Britney Spears". So apparently it does take balls to be a woman, especially when your own gender isn’t afraid to have a dig at you. For those who love plaid shirts, boots, porches and country music, this is a charming album. However for those who don’t, it will only reinforce your stereotypes.
