Is it the Smashing Pumpkins? Is it a new Dave Grohl project? No....
Its A Friend Of Mines first album God Mode and it throws you from genre to genre. Plastic Dinosaurs, for example, is driving, uncivilised grunge followed by Co-Host, which could easily be performed by The Postal Service. Standout track Heroin Sheik builds its foundations on syncopated drum rhythms and one constant riff. The guitar work in Your Dog Is Waiting For Me To Die is reminiscent of Dumb. The drumming however is more liberated than anything Nirvana would have done. The band thanks the global economic crisis under the thanks section, so closeted grunge fans unite and hope that the general bleakness of the world is going to produce more decent revivalists like A Friend Of Mine.
