To celebrate the success of local touring the beautiful Eleanor Angel will be performing at The Troubadour this Sunday May 3.

Rain on the Street is the ethereal and mesmerising debut album from Brisbane songstress Eleanor Angel.  Two years in the making, Eleanor has crafted a nostalgic soundscape, deftly fluttering between darkness and melancholy sweetness.

A stunning vocalist, Eleanor weaves elements of classical voice, jazz and folk with a sense of bittersweet introspection. Her arrangements have an elegant simplicity, structured around the fingerstyled guitar of her live performances and augmented by lush, spacious production (featuring piano, cello, sting quintet and soaring vocal harmonies).

The uncommon maturity of Eleanor's composition and performance reflects her lifelong passion for music.  Eleanor was always the charismatic girl on the fringes, whose classical world collided spectacularly with her love of pop and jazz music. She managed to love The Beatles, Miles Davis, Portishead, Joni Mitchell and renaissance style A Capella simultaneously. Happily, Eleanor's voice accommodates her diverse tastes, enabling the boldly feminine, confident approach to both composition and performance.

Eleanor will be performing tracks from Rain on the Street live on May 3 at the Troubadour, complete with the same lavish ensemble as the album. The show will feature string quintet, harmony vocalists and piano performance by contempory composer Joseph Twist. She will also be joined by percussionist David Kemp and cellist Kathy Baker who are the core members of her new band “Eleanor Angel & The Quickening”.
Tickets available from various locations.  go to  troubadour.oztix.com.au, Skinny's Music or Rockinghorse Records

What an awesome way to spend a Sunday night - and it's a day off the next day! Count me in, can't wait to hear the full line up.
