- The Drones got into the jovial spirit of the opening of The Hi-Fi in Brisbane by announcing they were splitting after the show — and then sniggered “Sucked in!”
- Ben Lee has spent some time with website Shoot The Player recently, covering Sebadoh's Brand New Love (singing to a dog), and MGMT’s Kids, as well as filming three other tracks in a 45minute session. Hit up www.shoottheplayer.com to check it out.
- The Hilltop Hoods’ new single Chase That Feeling – from June-slated new album State Of The Art – will be available digitally May 8, followed by a physical release on their own Golden Era Records (distributed by Universal) on May 22.
- The Presets last week delivered the second longest charting single in ARIA chart history, as My People spent its 73rd week in the top 100, at #100. Meantime, Ronan Keating, who debuted at #1 with Songs For My Mother, becomes the second Irish solo performer to have a #1 in Australia, the other being Van Morrison.
- Causing a buzz on the net last week was a photo of someone who looked very much like rapper Tupac in a bar in New Orleans. This led to the inevitable cackling that he’d faked his death in that shootout 13 years ago. Cops are looking for a dingo with an Uzi.
- Jarvis Cocker and French fashion stylist Camille Bidault-Waddington have split after six years. Cocker will remain in Paris to be with their six year-old son Albert. Single indie ladies with a fondness for the Jarv, start your engines.
