ImageThe US-based International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has for the first time ever awarded the ISC Grand Prize to Australian songwriters – and they’re locals no less. Kate Miller-Heidke (pictured, who is currently on her album tour for the acclaimed Curiouser) and songwriting partner Keir Nuttall were awarded the peer-voted prize for single Caught In The Crowd, and will receive almost $64,000 in cash and prizes. Judges for this year’s ISC included Tom Waits, Neil Finn, Loretta Lynn, Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20), Robert Smith (The Cure), Ray Davies (The Kinks), and KT Tunstall amongst others. Congrats Kate! (A full list of ISC winners can be found at www.songwritingcompetition.com/winners.html)

Kate & Keir\'s song deserves to win on many fronts, not only universal theme we all can relate to, beautifully written but the music evokes memories of our school years. A great pop song from the wonderful breading ground that Brisbane is, Congrats.
