Super Villians! Explain yourselves:
The Super Villains are Jaz (vocals/guitar), Bud (vocals/guitar), Irwan (drums) and Spooner (vocals/bass). We play an unassuming style of rock music with a significant vocal presence. The music is dynamic and upbeat and we are not afraid to bust out an extended lead brake.
So, why the big move East?
Apart from the sunshine, the main reason was to join forces with Bud and Spooner, former members of Brisbane band Little Hill; Bud has played with Irwan and I in a previous line-up and when the opportunity arose to play with each other again we were all keen.
As new transplants to the city from Perth, how do you find Brisbane?
Things are going well so far, at this early stage Irwan and I are still getting settled into our personal lives. But since we got here the production of the music is progressing in leaps and bounds.
What is your perception of ‘the Brisbane music scene’?
Hard to say at this stage, we are still yet to play our debut Brizvegas show. From what Bud and Spoon say there are a great deal of people supporting local original music here.
How do the new Super Villains differ from the old ones?
Not a great deal we still talk a lot of shit during jams. The songs come together a bit differently; moving from a three piece to a four piece adds a whole new element and we now have two lead vocalists.
As Super Villains, what is your dastardly plan for 2009?
We have upcoming supports for British India in June and are showcasing at AAA Backstage. Our self-titled EP will be aired on local and interstate radio stations and we hope to release a single late this year.
THE SUPER VILLAINS play their Brisbane debut at The Globe Thursday May 21 with The Ride, Silent Era Feature and Starscream 13. www.myspace.com/thesupervillainsmusic
