There are times when we like to watch serious, thought-provoking movies like Schindler’s List or The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas; and then there are times when we don’t. Actually, we don’t like to watch anything highbrow most of the time. Why watch Nazis portrayed as cruel and inhuman, when you can watch Nazis portrayed as cruel, inhuman and SEXY, like Ilsa She Wolf Of The SS ... or even as zombies, like in Outpost. There is a place for thoughtful, intelligent, deeply moving cinema, but – as regular readers might have already ascertained – that place is not here.
TOKYO GORE POLICE
"Mankind’s newest enemy" are the Engineers, criminals who have transformed their bodies in to efficient killing machines. Ruka is a Hunter, she tracks down the Engineers for the Tokyo Police who "show no mercy to criminals". Completely over the top in the best Japanese tradition, punctuated with demented advertisements and blood ... LOTS of blood. Robocop meets Meatball Machine, but more mental.
ZOMBIE STRIPPERS
A zombie virus ends up in Robert Englund’s (Nightmare On Elm Street) strip club. Jenna Jameson (I Love Lesbians) is the first to be infected, which increases her lust for men, although not in the good way. A film as good as you could hope for from the title ... Imagine From Dusk Till Dawn on Viagra and vodka.
ABDUCTED BY THE DALEKS
Four women find themselves stranded in a forest, then naked, then prisoners of the Daleks. The Daleks are pretty impressive, and so are the accents on the women. This is the film the BBC tried to ban, and for good reason, no one should have to watch it.
RE-ANIMATOR
Jeffrey Combs stars as HP Lovecraft’s Herbert West Reanimator. Dr West develops a reagent that will bring the dead back to life, but not everyone thinks this is a good idea. One of the most gloriously comic and crazed films of all time, including a scene of decapitated cunnilingus.
