Repetitive pop-rock with promise
This four track EP is the first recording from Sydney three-piece House Of Orange. It is essentially heavy pop-rock, though has a slightly swingin’ drumbeat that feels playful at times. Each song has a steady, speedy pace, without a great deal of rhythmic variation throughout. Dandelion is the highlight of the EP, with a poppy dance tune and an infectious beat. Do It Again is slightly heavier, though still essentially light at heart with a reliance on pop-driven rhythms. In Another Restless Soul the EP becomes more intimate with soft vocals introducing the song, before once more breaking into fast paced drumming and guitaring. Despite each song seeming to start well, after a few bars they inevitably fall back into the same repetitive beat, the same tune, the same format – a little experimentation certainly wouldn’t go astray. The whole EP whispers with promise, but doesn’t quite manage to deliver.
