  • Tipped Sydney pop-electro four-piece Shady Lane have signed with Rice Is Nice, and are set to release new EP Here We Go, Down The Black Hole on Aug 15.
  • Roots luminary John Butler’s new trio is completed by drummer Nicky Bomba (Sunrise Over Sea) and Byrons Luiters (The Ray Mann Three).
  • Guitarist Johnny Marr recently revealed The Smiths were offered US$50 million to reform and play five shows. “It’s pretty obscene,” he said.
  • Spinnerette’s Brodie Dalle has dropped the news that QOTSA hubby Josh Homme is currently recording with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) as part of an as-yet unnamed supergroup project. Sounds like it could be a loud one.
