Vices For Virtues Break Up PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 06 August 2009
Coolangatta's own Vices For Virtues are breaking up, drawing to a close more than four years of writing and performing their own brand of aggressive, melodic hardcore and commanding every stage they placed their feet on.
After releasing a successful demo and a split with their friends Avenge The Dead in the former and latter part of 2005 respectively, Vices began to play shows further afield than South-East Queensland, where they became known for their explosive and unrelenting live show, unique song structures, and their no bullshit attitude.
In 2007, the boys began work on thie debut EP. 'Heartfelt' dropped in mid-2008 and delivered all that the title promised: 6 tracks of raw emotion. One thing that this band has always strived for is message in their music, and that is found in spades in their tracks; from attacking society's ills and hollow musicians to those encouraging personal growth and self-belief. This determination has set Vices apart from the majority of the bands of their time. Now that 2009 has rolled around, Vices have decided it's time to call it a day, and to say goodbye, the boys are playing two final shows: An 18+ at Miami Shark Bar on August 28, and an all ages as a final farewell at Ashmore PCYC on September 5.
The only thing left to do is for you to come out, tear the walls down and bid farewell to a chapter of Gold Coast hardcore.

Vices For Virtues play Miami Shark Bar on Friday, August 28 with Widow The Sea, Time Has Come, and Life Act. Doors at 8pm. $10 on the door, and Ashmore PCYC on Saturday, September 5 with Abandon All Hope (SA), Driven Fear, xStrength Through Purityx, and Wrecked. Doors at 5pm. $10+bf from all OzTix outlets and online, $12 on the door.
