Organisers from QUT’s Independent Music Project are offering musicians the chance to record with the likes of Ed Kuepper (The Saints), John Willsteed (The Go-Betweens) and Asa Broomhall in conjuction with the QUT Big Jam record attempt. Here’s how it works. The 150-hour jam session will incorporate numerous musicians who will take over from each other successively over six days at the new QUT recording studio. On the final day, musicians will be transported to the Brisbane Riverstage by an “open top vehicle” that features portable recording equipment. The session will conclude with a concert at Riverstage on Sunday Sep 6, featuring Brisbane-based acts Intercooler and The Gin Club joining The Cat Empire on the stage to wrap up the record attempt. Positions on The Big Jam timetable are going quick, so to participate, contact Carly Dickenson (phone 3852 5249, email ) or visit www.implabs.net. The attempt commences Monday Aug 31.
