MEET DELANEY

7 Year old Delaney Cooper will be the face of rockin4thekidz, a fundraiser to be held on January 25^th 2010 in the small New South Wales village of Tyalgum. Delaney is diagnosed with Autism and is one the students with special needs that attends the Tyalgum Public School.

Tyalgum primary School and the Tyalgum community are inviting your media outlet to contribute in a positive way to the lives of our children, in particular those with special needs.

Did you know, that one in every 160 Australians have a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (Autism) and that it is more prevalent in boys than girls.

Autism is a life-long neurological disorder , where early intervention is vital for growth. Children with Autism and other special needs thrive in the classroom with ongoing one-on-one support. Without this support the chance of obtaining a quality education is very low.

Right now, due to lack of funding, we are not able to provide our special needs children with the quality education they deserve. It’s time for change!

our aim…

For many years our teachers have gone above and beyond to provide quality education for special needs children. This is an impossible task without aid.

To provide a full-time teachers aide for a child with Autism costs about $40,000 a year. After the age of six, government funding dramatically decreases. There are very few parents who can afford to make up the difference to ensure their child receives the education they are entitled to.

It’s time for change; for parents to focus on family not funding, and for our children to shine!

Our goal is to provide our special needs children with quality education to ensure they have the same life opportunities as all other children.

rockin4thekidz is a benefit rock concert, being held on 25^th January 2010 at Tyalgum Showground. A number of well-known artists have donated their time and talent. These include Russell Morris (‘The Real Thing’) Tim Gaze, (a highly credentialed musician having just finished touring with Jimmy Barnes), Vince Lovegrove (Mongrels of Passion), Gyan & Simon,the Brownbirds from Windy Hill and William Barton. Russell and Tim are spokesman for the musicians but some other participating musicians will be available for interviews as well.

This event will change the lives of our children with special needs. We invite you to be part of this change, by providing media coverage and/or sponsorship.
