King's Beach Tavern - Sat Dec 5
“On Monday night these guys played to a crowd of 10,000, but they came here for you guys”. Jobson’s Dreamkillers vocalist Les Jobson reaffirms why the crowd should be grateful for the presence of crossover legends Suicidal Tendencies. However, this is largely unnecessary. Despite the abundance of ST flip caps in tonight’s crowd, the appreciation for openers Jobson’s Dreamkillers shouldn’t be understated. Contending with a shitty PA, the newest incarnation of the band play a set of classics. From the bouncy, evil riffage of Father Can You Help Me? to the punky blasts of Wattage, they are ST’s perfect support act. As bouncers look pensive and punters get drunk, Suicidal Tendencies open their set with You Can’t Bring Me Down. Touching on their classics like War Inside My Head, Lovely and Send Me Your Money, the band’s funk/punk/thrash makes the crowd, who gang vocal most choruses, go absolutely mental. As Mike Muir preaches a life-affirming message, a mosh pit full of trashed, heavy-handed surfers beat the living piss out of each other. But by the time it’s all over, Suicidal Tendencies have turned a pub full of punters into loyal foot soldiers in the army … the suicidal army. ESS TEE!
