Neo-romantic love affair
Born On A Mountain, the brand new EP featuring songs from the soon-to-be-released album Echo Park, sees Jimmy Hawk (of The Rumours) taking his neo-romantic tunes to a new high. This ethereal folk-pop is layered with quaint beats that will have you dreaming of kaleidoscopic love affairs. Lyrics like, “Someone should ask you out cause I don’t have the courage ... someone should back you up, cause I don’t give a fuck”, from Bob Dylan-esque All The Boys drips both faded and courageous love (or not) from every word. Blue Sway (“I’m in love with this girl that I don’t know”) will have you bopping and stamping your feet like you’re at the local jamboree and dancing with those nearest to you. Born On A Mountain is definitely one to have a listen to this summer. Already with an impressive list of support spots with talent such as Silversun Pickups, Cold War Kids and Dave Graney, Jimmy Hawk needs no introduction – just credit for what is an unexpectedly enjoyable listen.
