The Riverstage - Sun Jan 31

Stormy conditions fail to dampen the spirits of Tiësto’s capacity crowd at the Riverstage tonight as the mammoth Dutch DJ and producer hits the ground running with the chest-rattling single Escape Me. An impressive wave of rain slaps punters in the face just in time for a fitting remix of Rain Down On Me from fellow Dutch act Kane, followed by the echoing guitar lick of crowd favourite Otherside featuring The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The hypnotic sound of Deadmau5’s Not Exactly sends a ripple of energy through the soggy shoes of thousands and even I Will Be Here from the overrated and overplayed Sneaky Sound System is well received. Touted as the world’s biggest DJ, Tiësto brings a slick and polished performance to the outdoor venue, managing to maintain a high level of energy throughout his three hour set. A complex arrangement of lasers, a sweet light show and some waterproof fireworks seal the deal. The thumping Louder Than Boom and a final spray from the heavens ensures everyone leaves happy and wet enough to piss off those taxi drivers who haven’t yet invested in plastic seat covers.
