Local Talent Gets Jazzed-up at South Bank PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 16 March 2010

South Bank is putting the finishing touches on Jazz in the Pocket, an intimate series of performances that are set to unearth the musical talents of staff and students from the Queensland Conservatorium.

In true jazz spirit, Jazz in the Pocket will be performed in an intimate ‘pocket’ setting on the Music Lawn at the Parklands, providing a secluded outdoor club dedicated to music-making.

Jazz in the Pocket offers music lovers a casual groove, inclusive of comfy cushions, in which to soak up a blend of old and new music. Perfect for those who want to move, as well as those who just like to kick back and listen – there is something for everyone.

With the first performance beginning on Thursday 25 March from 5pm, this free event is a great way to start the night off and sets the mood for the rest of the week.

Food and drink is available throughout the performance from Queensland Conservatorium's Red Note Café.

Kymberley McMahon, Manager, Marketing and Visitor Services from South Bank Corporation said Jazz in the Pocket is all about making lovers of Jazz feel right at home.

“Whether you’re a fan of the walking bass or the scat, the staff and students from the Queensland Conservatorium are set to host a performance that really sits in the pocket.”
