Let The Cat Out certainly haven’t pussyfooted around with their debut album, Get It Like That. With infectious blues tracks and a mellow quality that makes you want to take your iPod and lie under a tree somewhere, this 10-track collection promises to be the first of many for the band. Over a gorgeous combination of brass, percussion and string, lead vocalist Jane McArthur offers an array of earthy melodies to compliment lyrics you’d expect to hear in a downtown jazz bar. The first cat out of the bag, Lee Roy, channels elements of Brisbane band Stringmansassy and The Waifs, a combination that fans of the genre would surely agree cannot be improved upon. The sound progresses into a more Fiona Apple-inspired one towards the tail end of the album, with saxophone riffs maintaining the signature ambience of the band.
